Oregon allowed recreational marijuana with Measure 91, which was approved in 2014 and became effective in July 2015. The measure legalized recreational marijuana and designates the region Liquor Control Commission as the state’s regulatory authority.

Licenses must be applied for and gained by producers, processors, wholesalers and retailers. Individuals are allowed to cultivate up to four cannabis plants and can have up to eight ounces of marijuana.

Interestingly, cannabis was legal in Oregon until 1935 until it was packaged into the Uniform State Narcotic Drug Act. In 1973, the Oregon Decriminalization Bill got rid of criminal penalty for the possession of a small amount of cannabis.

Oregon is a beautiful state, and as of this year it has joined states like Colorado and Washington as a destination for cannabis tours. Marijuana tourism is bound to increase after July 2015 when people can travel to and enjoy pot in Oregon.
